What It Is

Machine polishing down to the clear coat

Paint correction is machine polishing that removes a microscopic layer of clear coat to eliminate the defects living within it — swirl marks from poor wash technique, scratches, water spot etching, and oxidation that makes paint look dull and chalky.

We use DA (dual-action) and rotary polishers with professional-grade compounds and finishing polishes selected specifically for your paint type. Every correction begins with paint thickness measurement using a digital gauge — we never correct paint that has been polished past safe levels.

Each stage is inspected under high-intensity LED lighting so we can see defects that are invisible in ordinary lighting. You see the same light we use at handoff, so there are no surprises.

Our Process

How We Do It

01

Paint Assessment

Paint thickness gauge across all panels, LED inspection to categorize every defect. We photograph the car before work begins and show you our findings.

02

Wash & Decontaminate

Foam pre-wash, iron fallout remover, clay bar, and final IPA wipe. Polishing over embedded contamination grinds it into the paint — this step is non-negotiable.

03

Machine Polish

We work panel by panel, stage by stage. Each compound and polish is chosen based on your specific paint hardness and defect severity. LED inspection between every stage confirms correction progress.

04

LED Inspection

Final full-car inspection under LED lighting. We walk the vehicle with you before any protective coating goes down so you see the finished correction first-hand.

05

Protection Recommended

Freshly corrected paint needs protection immediately. We recommend ceramic coating, a professional sealant, or Paint Protection Film to keep the results lasting. Unprotected corrected paint is vulnerable.

Aftercare

Keep the Results

Protect Immediately

  • Apply ceramic coating or quality sealant within days
  • Do not leave corrected paint unprotected long-term
  • Consider PPF on front impact zones

Proper Wash Technique

  • Two-bucket wash method every time
  • Dedicated microfiber wash mitt and drying towels
  • pH-neutral soap only
  • Dry thoroughly — never let water spot dry on paint

Avoid Re-Swirling

  • No automatic brush car washes — ever
  • Never dry-wipe dusty paint
  • Use a quality detailing spray before wiping
  • Inspect for swirls annually under LED lighting

FAQ

Common Questions

Paint correction removes defects within the clear coat. If a scratch catches your fingernail when you drag it across the surface, the damage has gone through the clear coat and touch-up paint is required. We assess every panel before starting and are upfront about what correction can fix and what it cannot.

Single-stage correction takes 4–6 hours. Two-stage takes a full day. Multi-stage correction on heavily damaged paint takes 1–2 days. We'll give you a specific estimate after seeing the car's condition.

Strongly recommended. Freshly corrected paint is exposed clear coat — it will pick up new swirls quickly without protection. A ceramic coating, quality sealant, or Paint Protection Film should go on immediately after correction. Many customers book correction and ceramic coating together for the best long-term outcome.

Yes. Matte and satin finishes require specific matte-compatible compounds and techniques that restore clarity and remove contamination without adding gloss or changing the intended sheen of the finish.

Indefinitely — with proper wash technique. Corrected paint does not re-swirl on its own. Swirls return when paint is washed with brush car washes, wiped dry with old towels, or dried without rinsing first. Protect corrected paint with ceramic coating and practice the two-bucket wash method.
